We all want to be heard.
Each of us, with our own unique reality, has a need to convey our belief; our side of the story.

Sometimes we shout to be heard… and sometimes silence speaks louder than anything else.

Silence is a source of great strength. Lao Tzu

However, we only grow, progress, advance… by listening, absorbing, digesting.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. Winston Churchill

This week: exhale…and listen:

To someone who loves you: They may need you
To your competition: You could learn their next move
To your inner child: She may be reminding you of something important
To your intuition: The most important of all your guides
To the music: Art created to move you
To the silence: It’s space for you to expand
To your body : It’s smarter than you may think
To your thoughts: Your most private and precious gems.

Philosophy In Action

This week, make it a priority to listen more than you speak.Listen to the words in music instead of singing. Listen to the soundtrack in your home and assess its level of positivity. Listen to someone you care about – and beyond hearing words, listen to the larger message they need to express to you.

Mind Games: Your Weekly Mantra

Use your words to train your brain. This week, when you must speak, say "I'm listening.."

Sole Training

Do you listen to what your body tells you? When giving yourself a gentle foot massage, look at a reflexology chart. Pain in a specific part of your foot may relate to a specific issue with a vital organ. Listen, feel, act.

Ahhhh, Steff that is true, so, so true. We all have busy lives and move around at 100mph but is that really necessary, ALL of the time? Not only am I going to make an effort to listen but I also need to listen to me .. my body and be in tune with myself .. I think my body is SHOUTING at me right now ;-)

During the week of listen, I say to my classes, we often “hear” what people say but how often do we take the time to “listen” to them?… Such powerful food for thought!

I LOVE that verse too Becky. Thank you for your words. We also learn from listening to our own body when training it. It speaks to us if we truly listen to it.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in working with those dealing with the hurts, hang-ups and habits of recovery is to listen – to just listen. No judgement, no response, no “I know what you need.” – just listen. A favorite verse of mine is; “Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” This week I hope to listen, to my heart, to others who just need a listening ear, and to look around me and hear the silent beauty of creation.
    Have a sweet week! Becky

LOVE becky! One of the most special moments in my life was when with someone I mentored who was having the worst day of her life, and since I didn’t know what would be the right thing to say, I just LISTENED. Years later, we ran into each other and she said she appreciated it so much, as all she really needed was someone to listen. So, it works!
