 We want you to succeed!

Follow these guidelines for stress-free video taping session.

Book your class location in advance: The ideal space is a well-lit studio with a stereo system and a microphone. We know that conditions are not always ideal – and you don’t lose points for the space!

Set a day & invite your supporters: Be fair to yourself and friends, and allow yourself 3 hours (tell them you need them for 2 hours.)  Have a minimum of 4 students in your class so that your cueing will be authentic.

Have a clear plan: bring a tripod: (if you don’t have one for your camera, a table, or a step with lots of risers will do the trick!)

The night before: Charge your camera batteries! Also, make sure you have enough space on your recording medium (hard drive, memory card, etc) to record for an hour.

Bring a power source, and an extension cord.  Since you don’t know where you’ll set the camera up, just be proactive… no surprises on filming day!

INTERN VIDEO | willPower Instructor Network

Record your  full one-hour class.  We would prefer that you do not break up into class segments.  We want to see your full one-hour class from beginning to end. Do you have multiple video segments that need to be linked? See below.

Before your recording begins, test: sound, lighting and camera angle. Try different angles to see which angle shows YOU the best with students in the room. Record the best option.

The camera should be on you at least 90% of the time, and should show your ENTIRE body: your face down to your  feet.  Please do not continually zoom in and out.

Keep the camera in ONE direction: When you flip the camera between horizontal and vertical, the recording device remains the same. So – basically, you could end up shooting your whole video sideways. Your development coach will not be able to score a side-ways video. Be sure to check the film before you send it.

Make sure you are clearly visible with whatever lighting you choose.

Our DVD viewer must be able to hear the music and your cues. Wearing a microphone is strongly suggested!

Keep it steady: If you’ve chosen not to use a tripod, and you have a friend filming, make sure he/she is holding your camera with steady hands. Our DVD viewer has trained her vestibular system but she still gets dizzy sometimes!

Your video will be uploaded to a private server (not public).  This is for internal use only! Once you have your video, return to your wIN homepage and look for the link to Upload Your Video. Your video can be uploaded from any of the following formats: mp4, mov, wmv, avi, mov.

Good luck – and have fun!
(remember – that’s why you did this in the first place)

Do you have more than one video clip to upload?

Please do your best to shoot a full one-hour class onto ONE video to upload.  If your video gets cut into numerous segments, you’ll need to link them together for a proper upload.

MAC / iMovie

The main, basic, instructions for adding clips to movies in iMovie (Mac OS X) is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14687

Other, general “how to use iMovie” info can be found here: https://www.apple.com/support/mac-apps/imovie/

If you have more than one video clip, you will need to combine them to make one video / movie. We have great tips and smart links here

If you don’t already Movie Maker (should be preinstalled on most computers) you can download the software here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker#t1=overview

Instructions for importing video (video tutorial): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker#t1=import

If you have more than one video clip, you will need to combine them to make one video / movie. We have some great tips and smart links here.

Be PATIENT with the upload process!

You need to send in a video of a full 60-minute class.  Uploading this lengthy video to most computers is going to take some time. We HIGHLY suggest that you prepare your computer for an OVERNIGHT upload.  If your web connection fails at some moment during the night, the upload may fail. So, plan to upload your video with plenty of time, and a strong web connection.

Please be resourceful. All the information you need to upload your video is here in wIN. Please do not rely on your group fitness manager, your Teacher Trainer or your Development Coach. We KNOW you can do this… and once you have, you’ll be so proud of yourself!
