According to Colorstrology by Michele Bernhardt, the color for August is Sun Orange, a regal, inspiring and powerful shade. Sun Orange “can be used by anyone to increase creativity and joy” and “resonates with laughter and celebration.”
If you begin to wear orange, you may notice that you smile more. You may notice a shift in your mood and your propensity to be more optimistic. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but I when I began wearing more orange I felt shift in my demeanor. When I began studying the chakras, I noticed that orange was one color I really didn’t have in my closet. Since the sacral chakra (also associated with the color orange) can help balance out joy in life, I realized it was time to embrace this color.
Svadhisthana is the sanskrit name for the sacral chakra. The sanskrit verb Svadha means to “sweeten”. I have a life-long friend who is always laughing and smiling. Everything always seems to go right for her. We like to joke that she is happier than a pig in mud. I believe that she may be the happiest person I know because she embraces the attitude that life is sweet and every moment should be savored. You guessed it: she wears lots of orange. It looks beautiful with her olive skin.
Wearing the color isn’t the only way to activate joy and optimism through this color. Consuming natural and organic orange foods have many health benefits. For example, citrus fruits can activate iron absorption in the body. It’s important to consume greens with citrus, so it makes complete sense to sweeten up your summer salads!
The following salad dressing recipe is from Tracy Vicente. Tracy is a Level III willPower & grace instructor from NJ who also studied Plant Based Nutrition under the T. Colin Campbell Foundation at Cornell University.

The dressing sounds wonderful! I have brought freshly squeezed organic valencia orange juice to my class when we are working on the sacral chakra – always well received!
Ha! Tracy, so am I. Orange is by far my favorite color. Love this.
Love it, Jenn! Ironically, I’m wearing an orange t-shirt right now!
Love it Jennifer! :)
I never thought about it, but orange is a happy color. Thanks again, Jennifer, for an enlightening article!
