pre·ci·sion | [pri-sizh-uhn] | noun

  1. accuracy, exactness; strictness

synonyms: attention, carefulness, exactitude, meticulousness

Accuracy of any sort is goal oriented. If you wish to communicate clearly (through any medium), you must first know the message you wish to relay – and then act, or speak precisely.

All I had to do was go out and perform. One of the hardest things was doing those back flips, where you had to jump up and land on the top rope. It’s precision movement. – Owen Hart

Precision through movement yields not only beautiful performance, but also higher caloric expenditure, and greater integration of very fine intrinsic muscles; a smarter body.

This season (perhaps even today) many of our readers will be running races – 5K, half-marathons – even 26.2 whole miles! Running is a single, repetitive exercise that can take a lifetime to master. This week, as you run, bring yourself through a battery of observations: foot strike, knee track, hips level, torso counter-rotation, arm swing, posture long, eyes on the road, breath work… (and there’s so much more…)

A few well-designed movements, properly performed in a balanced sequence, are worth hours of doing sloppy calisthenics or forced contortion. – Joseph Pilates

This week, work with accuracy towards well-defined goals, and watch the colors, sights and sounds sharpen with intensity all around you.

Concision in style, precision in thought, decision in life. – Victor Hugo

Philosophy In Action

This week, practice something simple – and incredibly challenging, all at once. Precision. With your words, and with your actions – be succinct – absolute. simple, sharp, meticulous.

Mind Games: Your Weekly Mantra

Repeat this all week - and observe what happens.  "Move with precision."

Color Your World

Cerulean, a color of poise, can inspire you to take strong action when needed.

Chakra Therapy

Precision of speech and writing are essential to a well balanced throat chakra and communication energy source.

This word couldn’t have come at a better time. I have tried all weekend to think of a solution to a problem I have in my professional life. Addressing the problem with precision in my actions and my words will help me remain above the external noise that keeps trying to pull me down. It helps me so much to put the word of the week into practice in my day to day life.

I am so excited for this word to finally be here. And I’m happy we had two weeks of cultivating patience for the small articulate foot movements we’re about to do this week. LOVE the Joseph Pilates quote.

One of my very favorites, too. When the entire class is on the beat & precisely in unison, it is a thing of beauty. You can see the confidence throughout the room.

Precision is one of my favorites words to cue to. It reminds me how important is to put your whole focus into one thing at a time, and continue to build up from there, from micro to macro. I commit to precision this week, in my movements, my communications and my ideas. Let’s do this together!
